How can more people be encouraged to recycle?

What can be done to get more people to recycle?

Whilst most people have recycling bins now, it is still known that many people do not use the recycling bins and sort their rubbish out each time.

What could be done to encourage those that don't have the time or at least think they don't, to sort their rubbish, to get them to recycle? Or to educate those who don't think that there is any purpose in recycling which we all know is not actually the case, or at least most of us do.

If anyone has any tips on what could be done to encourage people to recycle then please do post them here as it would be interesting to brainstorm different ways of encouraging and promoting discussion on this increasingly important topic.
