Using food waste productively

Here is a simple tip that I use with food in the garden.

Rather than just binning it, there are certain foods that can be used in the garden to feed animals and birds.

As a simple example, when I have an apple that is rotten or simply one that has gone off before I have had time to eat it, there is no need to throw it out.

Rather I feed it to the birds.

The blackbirds in particular seem to love them.

Admittedly the occasional cheeky squirrel comes along and eats it instead which is a little annoying when it is meant for the birds, but the important point is that that apple is not wasted and something enjoys it, if not someone!
