Ecotricity Tariffs: New Energy

Ecotricity lists three different tariffs on its website, at the time of writing.

The first of these is called the New Energy tariff which is an electricity tariff. If you are just interested in gas, please look at the page on this site called Green Gas.

With the New Energy tariff, ecotricity states that the green electricity in this tariff comes from their own windmills, and comprises just under 50% of the total.

It is a growing component which means that as they get more windmills the percentage will increase over time.

The rest of the electricity comes from so called brown electricity from the wholesale market.

Their website mentions it should not cost you more as the new energy is price matched to the standard tariff of regional suppliers.

So in summary if you are thinking of switching to a green tariff, then Ecotricity tariffs are worth considering. It is recommended you compare with the other electricity tariff from ecotricity listed in this section to see which you prefer.

Their website mentions that the company currently supplies to over 34,000 customers.
