British Gas Green Tariff: Future Energy Plus

British Gas has a large range of different tariffs, as befits one of the biggest energy suppliers into homes around the country.

The most green energy tariff that the company offers at the time of writing is called Future Energy Plus.

With this tariff the British Gas site says that you will make the gas and electricity that you use 100% carbon netural.

There are various features of this tariff, as follows:

- All the electricity you use is matched with energy from renewable sources

- All the carbon emissions from your gas will be offset

- Contributions are made to the Energy for Tomorrow fund which will help to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of UK schools

British Gas have an online quote tool to help you work out what your bill is likely to be, but average annual bill figures are made available on their site, as follows:

For a low energy user, the average annual bill is £673

For an average energy user it is £1,172

Whilst for a high energy user it is £1,607

For each customer who is on this Future Energy Plus tariff, the company retires the renewable obligation certificates associated with 12% of their electricity consumption in addition to their supplier obligations with the government.
