First ever Green MP

In the May 2010 election Britain elected it's first ever Green Party MP.

This honour went to Caroline Lucas of the Green Party, who won the parliamentary seat for one of the Brighton constituencies.

It will be interesting to see how much one person will be able to push the green agenda which has taken something of a back seat for the other parties with the economic crisis of late.

Hopefully it will be possible to have some influence and to ensure that we don't forget about how important issues such as climate change and global warming are going to be for the future of the planet.

This is something that I followed in the news with interest.

It is still early days, but I can't say that I have noticed any further exposure for the Green party since the election, or their views, although I have seen Ms Lucas a few times on programs such as Newsnight.

I don't know much about the Green party but clearly the green agenda seems to have fallen off the radar of the other parties at the moment so I do hope that something is done to remind parliament how important it is and if she can do that so much the better!
