Let Your Fridge Do The Talking

One of the problems with energy demand is that it can be unpredictable and of course is not even.

This can lead to spikes in energy demand where there is a sudden surge in requirements that can cause irregularity in the power supply.

One idea that researchers have come up with is for so-called intelligent energy hungry appliances such as fridges. The idea is that they could communicate with each other via getting supply and demand information from the grid, and then effectively work out when to turn themselves on and off to ensure that there are no sudden surges in demand.

The thought is that this would also reduce Co2 emissions significantly.
