Reducing Household Energy Bills Without Technology
It may sound too good to be true. Can we really reduce our energy bills around the world significantly? Well, traditionally scientists have looked at new technologies and developments to help achieve this, and rightly so.But now research has suggested that simply giving each home a power monitor so they can see how much power they are using is enough to make people think twice.
Ignorance is bliss as they say, and when you have the lights on but don't notice what impact that has on your bill you are much more likely to leave them on than if you can see the amount of energy ticking up on your monitor and knowing how much money you are spending.
Indeed it could be that we would all cut our energy usage by around 20% a year just by having a monitor and seeing how much energy we are wasting.
