Charity Bank Savings Accounts

You may well not have heard of the Charity Bank, but they are a provider that has a different model to most. Infact their website states that they are the only FSA regulated bank in the UK that is also a registered general charity.

They use all of the funds from their depositors (eg those that have savings with them) in order to provide loans and support to charitable organisations. Therefore for those who want their savings to do 'good' as it were then this is an attractive proposition.

They have a range of different accounts in the savings field. At the time of writing these include those listed below:

Charity Bank savings account
Charity Bank small steps account
Charity Bank community bond
Welsh community bond
Yorkshire deposit bond
Liverpool sefton social investment bond
Kent community bond

There is the option to not take any interest on your savings and ultimate help the charities that are lent to by helping to keep lending rates down if enough forgo their interest presumably, or alternatively the interest can be donated straight to a charity rather than go into the account as would with a standard savings account.
