Composting

If you are a keen gardener, then why not recycle all your organic waste and make some excellent compost.

All you need to do is get a compost bin and then each time you have fruit waste, vegetable peel and so forth, simply add it to the compost bin. Over time this will turn into excellent compost - the middle of the heap will get quite warm through the heat given out by the bacteria that break down the material.

This will be a nutritious and useful compost for your plants and give you lovely flowers as a result.

The best thing is it less waste that you send to the tip in your rubbish bin and therefore you are doing your bit for the environment, and no part of the vegetables and fruit is being wasted.

Composting is just one example of how to recycle and make the most of items that would otherwise be household waste. Read the other articles on the site for more ideas.
